Dona Stobert lit a candle on 12/30/2015:
"Dear Garry, what is there to say? The tears flow. I lit a candle. She was a constant, my Dear Mama un-in-law. I guess its over when the tiny little old woman recites poetry! Grace that you were with her. Mama Rosita has left the premises via Mexico that she so loved. I have felt sad all day but not knowing, now I do. I really thought she would hang around for her 90th! Tonight the moon and my heart weep for a great Dame. Love is All."
Deb Venables lit a candle on 12/29/2015:
"Thanks Garry, and thanks to your mom for raising you - she is blessed and conferred blessings. How sweet for her to be able to transition in such a great way, in her beloved Mexico surrounded by love, attended by you. I know how you feel to have had the honour of being present for the passing of your parent. It is one of life's treasures for sure, and so much (to me) like being present at a birth. A mystery.
lots of love - lots of hugs
Deb"
Janice Westlund lit a candle on 12/29/2015:
"We’re saddened and satisfied at the same time. She managed this final, most arduous journey with grace. No surprises there. (She’s somewhere else now ‘working the room’ with a sparkle and her wry smile).
*****This is a great big hug until we can see you soon.

Born: February 25th, 1926
Rosita passed peacefully last Sunday evening in Manzanillo Echauri Clinic, a day after admission, following a brief battle with bronchial infection. She was attended throughout by great physicians and devoted caregivers but in the end her body was too frail to fight the fight. Many of her friends came to visit over the previous week and offer support. While unable to reach her 90th in February, Rose was able to return to her beloved Costalegre, Mexico for the 10th year where she enjoyed herself to the fullest for four weeks. On Sunday afternoon she enjoyed her last ride, a wheel chair tour of the 12-bed clinic, to see hand-made Christmas decorations hanging on all the doors and a beautiful tree with sparkling lights in the foyer. A beaming ten-month old boy, assisted by his mother, walked toward Rose with his joy and determination and she lit right up in response. Later, while providing her therapeutic touch, she spontaneously recited poetry to me. Before dinner she enjoyed a food massage and a Hadyn Cello Concerto. Following dinner, she lay her head down on the pillow and departed. She was serene. As I reflect back now, it went as well as could be imagined and it was a gift to witness. Rose did not unduly suffer for which I am very thankful. She maintained her faculties and dignity and was never institutionalized as Larry had been. I am deeply grateful to have the opportunity to be there on her last day, having missed my dad’s departure by a few hours in February. I am profoundly indebted to Jeanne McGee and Monita Gauvin for their enormous efforts as caregivers to Rose during her sudden decline. The outpouring of condolences from Rosita’s friends here in Melaque is heartfelt and at the same time overwhelming. The wee Scot made quite an impact. As one dear friend just wrote: She managed this final, most arduous journey with grace. No surprises there. She’s somewhere else now ‘working the room’ with a sparkle and her wry smile. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for 5:00 PM, January 10 at Bungalows Casa Grande in Melaque, Mexico. In lieu of flowers please donate to your local SPCA or to ProAnimalMelaque.org. Unfortunately, the Condolence link is not working on this site but you can leave messages by choosing the Light a Candle link. Also an obituary will soon be published in the Regina Leader Post where a guest book may be signed thereafter: http://www.legacy.com/obituaries/leaderpost/
